CVA Helped Kalmbach Feeds & AGT Foods
Living our Core Values and putting them in Action (CVA) every day makes a powerful difference in both our personal performance as D&D team members and D&D’s overall success in serving our customers, clients, and vendors.
Our company has a long history of extraordinary CVA wins. Here, however, we only have space for a couple recent examples…
Transloading bulk urea for Kalmbach Feeds
Kalmbach Feeds is a neighbor based in Upper Sandusky, founded by Milton and Ruth Kalmbach in 1963, which was only a few years before Doc and Dorothy started D&D.
Today Kalmbach has operations or subsidiaries in Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, and Pennsylvania and manufactures quality food animal feeds, companion animal products, and show feeds for a wide range of species. Their feed operation also supplies poultry and pig contract growers.
Kalmbach was paying attention when they sent an urgent request for bulk urea, which can be a challenging order.
Our Transloading Team — Joey Metzger, Adam Troyer, Brayden Evans, Barry Ladd, Dylan Brinkman, Paul Fischer, Dan Reed, Chase Leighty — and our sister division D&D Trucking went into action and delivered great performance. It’s a great example of being Customer-Focused.
As a result, a team leader at Kalmbach emailed us on Nov. 11: “Thank you so much. You guys have been awesome to work with. I really appreciate it.”
“Expedited delivery” for AGT Foods USA
This CVA opportunity started Dec. 7 with a late afternoon email from AGT Foods USA to Tiffany Branscum:
“Hey Tiffany, Not too sure of whom to ask this question but will start with you. We have an urgent need to get at least 2 loads of starch to Joplin, MO by morning or ASAP. Would this be something you could urgently put together for AGT?”
It turned out that a train had derailed and caused a break in AGT’s normal supply chain to one of its largest pet food manufacturing customers.
AGT Food and Ingredients is one of the world’s largest suppliers of value-added pulses, staple foods, and food ingredients. They buy lentils, peas, beans, and chickpeas from farmers at more than 40 facilities located in Canada, the U.S., Turkey, Australia, China, and South Africa and ship products to more than 120 countries. AGT Foods USA is a major supplier to the pet food industry.
Less than 24 hours after AGT’s emergency call, D&D’s Consigned Team — Benji Byrne, Tiffany Branscum, Quinton Langhals — and D&D Trucking had organized starch, driver, and tractor with pneumatic trailer to get to Joplin before 5:30 p.m. the same day.
AGT’s North American Director for Petfood and Aqua Ingredients thanked the teams involved:
“We greatly appreciate all your help getting this truck to Joplin. You’re a great partner!”
