D&D’s roots stem from aspiration. In 1976, Donald (Doc) and Dorothy Miller decided to take a leap of faith and try their hand at a new career path. At the time, Doc had been working at the local Chevrolet dealership, but with 7 kids, they needed to increase their income. When presented with the opportunity to take over an oat cleaning business, Doc and Dorothy spent $5,000 on a business they knew very little about.
Over time, the business became successful and rapidly grew from cleaning oats for racehorses in Kentucky to picking up co-products from distilleries. Eventually, the company evolved to marketing over 650 products to feed and pet food manufacturers across the country. To reflect this change, D&D Grain changed its name to D&D Ingredient Distributors, Inc. Today, D&D has 475,000 square feet of warehouse space, in addition to 1,425 tons of overhead storage and 4,500 tons of flat storage for bulk materials.
